Francis Kong

Dr. Francis Kong is the founder of MedSimple Inc. He is the founder of two additional companies, including Nerdcore Learning, and he is a co-creator of the Healing Blade game, which is sold internationally to medical students to teach them disease therapies through a card battle game. Before joining a panel on online healthcare, he sat down for our In The Green Room Q&A.

Q. Where would we find you at 10 a.m. on a typical Saturday?

A. I’m a night person. Between three and four a.m. is when I work best. I go to bed around five. So Saturday morning, I’d probably just be waking up and trying to plan my Saturday night.

Q. What music have you listened to today?

A. Jazz, on the elevator down here.

Q. What do you consider to be the greatest simple pleasure?

A. Food.

Q. What surprises you most about your life right now?

A. That I’m actually getting paid to do what I love to do.

Q. Who was your childhood hero?

A. Batman, Spiderman, and Indiana Jones.

Q. What do you wish you had the nerve to do?

A. I wish I could let loose a little more.

Q. What is your favorite cocktail?

A. I don’t drink alcohol. But my favorite drink is coke, a slice of lemon, and ice – the Hong Kong drink.

Q. When do you feel the most creative?

A. At nighttime, between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.

Q. What profession would you like to practice in your next life?

A. Special effects supervisor.

Q. If you could take only one more journey, where would you go?

A. Eighty days around the world.

Q. What is your most prized material possession?

A. I would draw these superheroes when I was 12. When I learned to model and mold things, I made three-dimensional figures of them. I keep them at my desk – they remind me to be creative and they remind me of my childhood.

Q. Who is the one person living or dead you would most like to meet for dinner?

A. Steven Spielberg. I love his creativity, and how he inspires imagination and creativity in everyone.
