Greg Moon

Greg Moon is Director of Clinical Affairs at Proteus Biomedical in Redwood City, California. He has overseen the clinical development of the company’s Intelligent Pharmaceutical system, which networks proven medicines with mobile phones to help people meet their health-related goals.  Before taking the stage to talk about medical technology, he took our In The Green Room Q&A.

Q. What’s the last habit you tried to kick?

A. It’s kind of an anti-habit – not stepping on the scale. Sometimes you don’t want the information so you avoid it.

Q. Who was your childhood hero?

A. Hawkeye Pierce. He was kind of a screwball but he was doing the right thing. I put that in my first medical school application essay. My advisor said, “You can’t go to medical school because you like a TV show character.” But it was true.

Q. What surprises you the most about your life right now?

A. How happy I am having a settled life. I was fighting that for most of my early 30s and now I’m totally content.

Q. What do you consider to be the greatest simple pleasure?

A. Water.

Q. Where would we find you at 10 a.m. on a typical Saturday?

A. Cleaning up the house for the cleaner that’s coming later in the day.

Q. What do you wish you had the nerve to do?

A. Go off and do something overseas with my family. Sell the house, sell the possessions, and live however we could live.

Q. Who is your favorite fictional character?

A. Tin Tin.

Q. What is your favorite cocktail?

A. Mojito.

Q. What profession do you wish you could practice in your next life?

A. Architect or civil engineer – building something big.

Q. What is your most prized material possession?

A. My Mac PowerBook. I sound like such a consumer.

Q. Who is the one person living or dead that you’d most like to meet for dinner?

A. Mark Twain.
